drip (2019)
drip (2019) is a PVA raincoat inscribed with excerpts from the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 in Australia, exploring the gap between legislative promises and lived reality. Like a raincoat made of water-soluble fabric, the work suggests that legal protections for women against harassment and violence can feel fragile or ineffective. By wearing the coat, the wearer is adorned with a false sense of safety, highlighting how formal equality on paper does not always translate into real change. The work questions whether legal frameworks alone are enough and calls for deeper shifts in attitudes, behaviours, and structures to make equality meaningful.
