words in water (2019)
This work is a performance and installation responding to Australia’s commitment to global climate agreements, including the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. Strips of PVA fabric were inscribed with excerpts from these documents before being placed in the ocean, where rising tides gradually submerged and dissolved the text. As the words disappear, the work reflects on the fragility of these promises, suggesting that without tangible action, they remain empty.
